katie bishop


katie (b. 1988) is a composer and bassoonist who has been active in music performance since 2000 and began composing in 2011. as a musician, she works at the intersection of social activism and concert music, an area that is scarcely inhabited and where more representation of diverse identities is needed. her current long-term project, deliver us from donald, is a series of multidisciplinary fundraising shows with the goal of raising money and awareness of groups negatively impacted by the trump regime and giving burgeoning performers a space to perform. she holds a bachelors of music degree in composition with a minor in philosophy from portland state university and a master of arts in music composition from the aaron copland school of music at queens college. katie lives in bedstuy, brooklyn with her cat nora-gwendlyn.
